INVITED-TRIAL GUIDE · UPDATED 18 October 2026
How StoresFlow works
From an approved catalogue and a counted opening to receipts, reservations, picks, issues, returns and counts.
This guide describes the trial scope. Access and the workflow supported for your site are agreed before the trial starts.
Set up one stockroom
An author prepares the materials, aliases, base units, exact pack conversions and any lot tracking, and a reviewer approves them. The owner sets up the store, receiving area, bins and staging area. A supervisor confirms the opening stock once, at the agreed cutover, after it has been counted.
Receive and put away
Receive records the item, quantity, unit, delivery reference and any required lot into receiving, and shows the exact base quantity before confirmation. Received stock cannot be reserved until it is put away: the approved policy suggests the bin, and the operator scans that bin to confirm.
Reserve, pick and issue
Create or import a known job demand and reserve stock for it, completely or with an explicitly accepted shortfall. The picker scans the bin and item, and the quantity moves to staging. Issue records the material leaving the stockroom for that job. It does not record that the material was consumed or assembled.
Move, return and hold
A move between bins can show stock in transit until it arrives. An unused return names the original issue and comes back to receiving for review, rather than straight onto the shelf. Held and quarantined stock stays visible and out of reservations until a supervisor resolves it.
When a result is uncertain
If a connection drops during a confirmation, StoresFlow checks the original action before anything is repeated. When another station has changed the stock, the current position is shown with a request to choose again, rather than silently taking different stock.
Requests and ordered receipts
With SmartFACT Purchasing connected, StoresFlow raises stock needs and receives physical deliveries against approved order lines. Purchasing owns the commitment and on-order balance. StoresFlow owns the actual stock, reorder points and receipt confirmation.
Practise with the real screens
Practise receipts, put-away, reservations, picking, issues and returns. Separate office lessons cover holds and reviewed counts.
